The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will conduct a third common management admission test (CMAT) for admissions to the 2013-14 batch. This CMAT, proposed to be held from May 17 to 20, will be open for those candidates who were unable to take the test in the first two sessions.
"Several states had issued their CMAT notification late, and students were unable to take the test. We plan to hold the third CMAT from May 17 to 20. This is the only year, when we would conduct a third CMAT," said SS Mantha, chairman of AICTE. Students, who are appearing for the test again, can use the best of their scores in both the CMATs.
In a related development, the first day of the second CMAT for admissions to the 2013-14 batch was glitch-free across 51 cities in the country, in spite of the bandh on Thursday. Around 20.5% of the total number of registered candidates — 1.54 lakh — were to take the exam on Day One of the five-day window period for the online test. Most cities saw more than 90% attendance on the first day, said Mantha. Most students opted for the Saturday-Sunday testing slot, said Pravir Arora, vice-president of Aptech India Ltd, which is the technical partner for conducting CMAT.
